Culture and law says that we have to hide much of who we are.

It starts with important parts of our bodies, but ultimately leads to so much else: our desires, or opinions, and many of our feelings.

It's such a shame that it has to be like this.

A natural response to being told to hide away is to feel shameful and unworthy, which is no good for anyone.

Why else would we have to cover this stuff up?

This design is a symbol of our awareness of that.  It reminds us that we're ok, just as we are, and just because we can't reveal all of ourselves it doesn't mean we should be ashamed of anything.
